1. Initial Concept (1968-1979)

In 1983, Compaq Computer Corporation introduced the Compaq Portable, the first IBM PC-compatible portable computer. It quickly became popular in the business market due to its compatibility with IBM software and hardware.

Apple’s PowerBook line, launched in 1991, brought significant innovations in laptop design. It introduced features such as the built-in trackball and a more ergonomic layout, which became standard in future laptop designs.
2. IBM ThinkPad (1992)
IBM released the ThinkPad series in 1992, which was highly acclaimed for its robust build and reliable performance. The ThinkPad became a favorite among business users and was known for its distinctive design and quality.

Since the 2000s, laptops have become more powerful, slimmer, and lighter. Modern laptops feature high-resolution displays, solid-state drives (SSDs), longer battery life, and powerful processors. Major brands like Apple MacBook, Dell XPS, HP Spectre, and Lenovo Yoga have set high standards in the market.
2. Chromebooks and Tablets
In recent years, Chromebooks have gained popularity, especially in educational settings. These devices run on a web-based operating system and are cost-effective and easy to use. Tablets like the iPad have also taken on many roles traditionally filled by laptops, offering portability and versatility.
